Drew O'Reilly (Syracuse, NY) all finished among the top eight as the WPI men's cross country team raced to a second-place finish at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational, hosted by UMass on Saturday morning.
Mosher led the Engineers over the 6K course, crossing the finish line in 19:03.3 to place third overall. Presnell followed close behind in his collegiate debut, taking sixth in 19:23.4, while O'Reilly gave WPI its third top-eight finisher with an eighth-place showing in 19:29.6.
Freshman
Nathaniel Henshaw (Templeton, MA) placed 14th in his collegiate debut with a time of 19:45.2, while junior
Jackson Sobelman (Redding, CT) completed the Engineers' scoring five, taking 17th in 20:00.7.
Sophomore
Matthew Meerdink (Ballston Spa, NY) followed in 18th with a time of 20:05.9, while junior
Colin Britner (Hampton, CT) placed 19th in 20:13.0. Freshman
Nicholas Falcone (Morris Plains, NJ) made his collegiate debut with a 21st-place finish in 20:17.6, and sophomore
Giuseppe Villani (Shrewsbury, MA) crossed 24th in 20:27.5.
Junior
Alden Betterley (Bow, NH) finished 30th in 21:04.1, followed by freshman
Tim Schribman (Lowell, MA) in 31st at 21:07.4 and
freshman Adam Lewis (Medford, MA) in 32nd at 21:09.7. Senior
Ryan Coceano (Cinnaminson, NJ) was 33rd in 21:14.8, while junior
Luke Holden (Carver, MA) placed 35th in 21:27.5.
Senior
Trip Williams (Pelham, NH) crossed in 21:33.5 to finish 36th, senior
Craig Salois (Hopkinton, MA) was 37th in 21:44.3 and junior
Jackson Hunt (Hopedale, MA) took 38th in 22:09.7. Freshman
Connor Earle (Duxbury, MA) made his collegiate debut with a 39th-place finish in 22:19.8, while junior
Daniel Narvaez (Wayland, MA) rounded out the WPI contingent in 40th with a time of 24:16.1.
WPI totaled 48 points to finish second in the three-team field, edging Division I Holy Cross by three points. Host UMass captured the team title with 27 points, while Holy Cross finished third with 51.
Holy Cross' Joseph Mahon won the individual title, completing the 6K course in 18:38.1.
WPI returns to action at noon on Saturday, September 19th, traveling to Middletown, CT for the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan.
