Adam Nicolay begins his first year as Assistant Director of Facilities Operations & Recreation at WPI in 2026. In his role, he assists with the day-to-day management of the university's athletics and recreation facilities, event operations, recreational programming and facility scheduling while supporting the student-athlete and campus recreation experience.
Nicolay comes to WPI from Bryant University, where he served as both a Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports and an Athletic Operations Assistant. During his two years with the Bulldogs, he helped oversee daily facility and game operations, coordinated event scheduling and facility reservations, supervised a staff of approximately 50 employees, and served as a liaison among coaches, student-athletes, staff and external partners.
Prior to Bryant, Nicolay worked with Vertical Challenge, LLC, assisting with the planning and execution of large-scale ski and snowboard competitions throughout the Northeast. His responsibilities included event logistics, staffing, sponsor relations and on-site operations, providing valuable experience in event management and external partnerships.
Nicolay earned a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University before completing a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in General Management at Bryant University. His background also includes experience in program evaluation, staff development and data-informed operational planning
