Joe Nichols begins his fifth year full time on the WPI Athletics staff, serving as the Facilities & Recreation Supervisor.

After obtaining his master's degree in sport management from West Virginia in 2013, Nichols began on Boynton Hill working as a Sports & Recreation Center supervisor upon the opening of the facility and served at WPI as a sports information intern for two years where he also gained experience in compliance. Since taking on the new role, he has restructured the intramural program, including the first-ever women's flag football division, developed a participant manual and continually trains the intramural staff. In addition to taking the Sports & Recreation Center social media presence to another level, Nichols' also assists the Assistant Director of Facilities & Recreation in managing the WPI Sports & Recreation Center daily operations.

As a member of National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) and Massachusetts Association for Recreational Sports (MARS), Nichols has been on numerous committees and was selected as the professional scholarship recipient for in the fall of 2017 at the NIRSA regional conference.

The 2011 graduate of Cazenovia College has a Bachelors of Professional Studies with a concentration in management and sports management degree.
