Shannon Reno returns to the WPI women's basketball coaching staff for her second season in 2026-27, continuing her involvement with the Engineers' program following a decorated five-year playing career.
A former standout for the Crimson and Gray, Reno was a five-year letterwinner from 2020-25, earning recognition for her defensive intensity, leadership, work ethic, and commitment to the program. During her collegiate career, she was a two-time recipient of the team's Hustle Player of the Year Award (2023-24, 2024-25), a two-time Practice Player of the Year honoree (2020-21, 2022-23), and earned the program's Defensive Player of the Year Award in 2024-25.
Reno's contributions extended beyond the court, as she was honored with the Ray Cherenzia Award, recognizing the team's unsung hero, during the 2022-23 campaign. She also received the NEWMAC Sportsmanship Award in 2023-24, further highlighting her dedication to teamwork and leadership.
In the classroom, Reno was equally accomplished, earning College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District recognition in both 2023-24 and 2024-25. She was also a four-time NEWMAC Academic All-Conference selection from 2021-22 through 2024-25.
A double graduate of WPI, Reno earned her bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 2024, with a minor in environmental and sustainability studies, before completing her master's degree in systems engineering in 2025.
Away from the court, Reno serves as a project manager in Electricity Capital Project Delivery at National Grid, a position she has held since May 2024.
