North Dartmouth, MA --- The WPI men's cross country had a strong showing at the all-division UMass Dartmouth Invitational on Saturday, taking eighth place out of 44 teams.
Graduate student
Avi Bissoondial (Millbury, MA) and senior
Ryan Fischer (Merrimack, NH) both finished in the top 10% of the 342-runner field, helping the Engineers to a top finish among the Division III squads at the event. Bissoondial completed the 8k event in 25:33.30 to take 23rd, while Fischer was 28th in 25:39.76.
Graduate student
Benjamin Trantanella (Westford, MA) was next across the line for the Engineers, taking 45th place in a time of 25:52.94. He was followed by junior
Brinson Wyche (Corvallis, MT) and freshman
Drew O'Reilly (Syracuse, NY), who completed the event with times of 26:22.30 (76th) and 26:24.32 (78th), respectively. Graduate student
Jarrett Gulden (Walpole, ME) rounded out the top-100 finishes for WPI, placing 98th in 26:44.78.
Senior
Sean Corman (Waterford, CT) crossed the finish line in 27:18.53, followed
by freshman
Jackson Sobelman (Redding, CT) in 27:23.45. Sophomore
Craig Salois (Hopkinton, MA) and freshman
Calvin Allaband-Gamble (Chicago, IL) wrapped up the field for the Engineers, clocking in at 27:32.44 and 27:54.35, as all WPI runners placed in the top 60%.
Up next for the Crimson and Gray, the team will compete at the Bates Invitational on Saturday, October 5 at 10:30am.
