Myles Lakin (Reading, MA) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Year as four from WPI were named to postseason all-conference teams voted on by conference coaches at the conclusion of the regular season.
In 2025, Lakin took over as the starting netminder in the cage for the Crimson and Gray, winning 14 games, the most for a WPI goalkeeper since 2018. The Reading native anchored a defensive effort that allowed a conference-best 19 goals in 19 games this fall. Lakin bests the NEWMAC in save percentage in conference play (.851) and overall (.863), and second in goals against average (.955). The 2025 NEWMAC Defensive Player of the Year posted six shutouts, three of which came in NEWMAC action.
Eve Martineau (Greene, ME) collects her third All-NEWMAC first team nod in 2025 as a key midfielder for the Engineers. The senior captain recorded a pair of goals that were both game winners and a pair of assists with a defensive save as she started in all 19 games for the Crimson and Gray.
Lauren Meinhold (Boxboro, MA) earned her third NEWMAC Field Hockey postseason all-conference honor and second-consecutive first team distinction this fall. The seasoned veteran led the program with 10 goals and five assists for 25 points including three game-deciding tallies as she started all 19 contests for the Engineers.
Senior
Leah Uglevich (Maynard, MA) was named to the All-NEWMAC second team for her first-career postseason accolade. Uglevich finished third amongst the program in goals with eight on just 28 shots featuring a game-winning goal in addition to a pair of assists for 18 points in 17 starts and 19 appearances.
In total, the trio of offensive all-conference honorees accounted for 20 of WPI's 43 goals (47%), nine of the team's 28 assists (32%) and 49 of the Engineers' 114 points (43%) for nearly half of the program's output.
WPI reached the NEWMAC Championship and earned an at-large berth into the NCAA Field Hockey Championship earning a team ranking as high as No. 22 in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) and as high as No. 17 in the NPI Rankings through the time of selections.
The nationally-ranked Engineers open the program's fifth-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament this afternoon at No. 15 Stevenson in Owings Mills, Maryland, at 4pm.
