Marlboro, MA --- WPI Men's Swimming and Diving first-year Lucas Brown (Viera, FL) was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Swimmer of the Week for the week ending on Sunday, November 2nd, and includes competition from the start of the 2025-2026 season prior to this past week.

Joining Brown in this week's men's swimming and diving honors were Springfield's Christian Butler (North Haven, CT) as the Diver of the Week, and Wheaton's 200 Free Relay of Brian Hixson (Scituate, MA), Gavin Cullinan (Cumming, GA), Marcus Tran (Milton, MA), and Will Larson (Iowa City, IA), who were recognized as the Relay Team of the Week.

Brown, a first-year standout, has been electric to start his collegiate career, collecting six individual victories and one runner-up finish across WPI's first two weekends of competition. In the season opener at Ithaca, he powered the Engineers to their first win over the Bombers in three years, sweeping the 1000 freestyle (9:54.59) and 200 butterfly (1:57.52) while finishing second in the 500 freestyle (4:50.72).

The rookie followed up with a perfect 3-for-3 performance at WPI's Halloween home meet versus Babson, Brandeis and Coast Guard, winning the 1000 freestyle (10:04.30) by over ten seconds, the 500 freestyle (4:52.84) by more than six seconds, and the 200 IM (1:58.38) in a tight finish.

This marks WPI's first NEWMAC weekly accolade of the young season and the first Men's Swimmer of the Week honor since October 22, 2023, when Christopher Smith (Northbridge, MA) earned the award.

WPI will return home to host the Worcester City Championships featuring NCAA Division I Holy Cross, Division II Assumption and Clark at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center starting on Saturday, November 8th, at 10am.
