Willimantic, CT --- A nine-run seventh inning by Eastern Connecticut State proved to be the difference as the Warriors defeated WPI 15-10 on Wednesday afternoon. Eastern improves to 23-8, while the Engineers drop to 13-20.

Andrew Cash (Marlboro, MA) led the WPI offense, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBI. The homer was his 30th of his career, matching WPI Hall of FamerÂ
Alex Venditti '16, and his surpassed the 100 career RBI mark and now has 103.
Camden Willems (The Woodlands, TX) added a hit, a walk, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Tommy Burns (Morris Plains, NJ),
Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT), and
Matt Shea (Andover, MA) also chipped in RBI, while
D.C. Brown (Plymouth, MA) had a 3-for-5 day.

On the mound,
Alex Hee (Walpole, MA) started and went five innings, striking out three while allowing five runs.
Ethan Smith (Hanson, MA) took the loss in relief after surrendering five runs in the seventh.

For the Warriors,
Preston Cosme-Cruz (Bridgeport, CT) delivered the game's biggest blow with a three-run homer in the seventh, part of a four RBI performance.
Ian Moser (Bellingham, MA) also drove in three and scored four times, while
Alejandro Soriano (Hartford, CT) knocked in three.
Hank Penders (Wethersfield, CT) added two hits and two runs.
Mike Furgalack (Southington, CT) earned the win in relief with three shutout innings, allowing just one hit and striking out five.

WPI jumped out to a quick lead with a pair of runs in the top of the first, highlighted by an RBI single from Burns and a sacrifice fly by Lattimer. After the Warriors responded with two runs in the bottom half, WPI reclaimed the lead in the fourth on Cash's three-run blast, his team-leading ninth home run of the season, putting the Engineers ahead 5-4.

Eastern Connecticut tied the game in the bottom of the fifth when Soriano delivered a two-out RBI single.

In the bottom of the seventh, ECSU erupted for nine runs to take over the game. Cosme-Cruz delivered the biggest blow with a three-run homer to left, giving the Warriors an 8-5 lead. From there, ECSU capitalized on a walk, a hit batter, a pair of wild pitches, and a WPI error to tack on six more.

Trailing by 10 entering the ninth, the Engineers made a final push, using a pair of Warrior errors, three walks, and a hit batter to plate five unearned runs. A hit-by-pitch RBI from Cash and a bases-loaded walk by Willems capped the scoring before Eastern closed the door.

WPI returns home Friday for a NEWMAC doubleheader against Springfield beginning at 3pm. Eastern Connecticut will head to UMass Boston on Sunday for a Little East Conference twinbill starting at noon.
