Westwood, MA --- The WPI men's swimming and diving team placed 15 student-athletes on the 2025 Winter NEWMAC Academic All-Conference list, tied with MIT for the most selections in the conference, as announced by the league office.
Seniors
Val Corrente (East Setauket, NY),
Matt Crane (Groton, MA),
Jack Duryea (Sag Harbor, NY), and
Aidan Greenfield (East Northport, NY) each earned the honor for the third time in their careers.
Junior
Devin Mihaichuk (New Lenox, IL) picked up his second straight nod, while fellow juniors
Jacob Antonovich (Fairfax, VT) and
Dean Doubek (Arnold, MD) were recognized for the first time.
A large group of sophomores earned their first academic selections, including
Gavin McCullough (Geneva, IL),
Ryan Ng (Hasbrouck Heights, NJ),
Lucas Pralle (Wayland, MA),
Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA),
Luke Sperling (Downingtown, PA),
Sean Tesoro (Reading, MA),
Patrick Tirch (Poughkeepsie, NY), and
Jack Werb (Raynham, MA).
To be eligible for Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) or 4.35 (on a 5.0 scale) following the 2024 fall semester, achieved at least sophomore academic standing, and been a member of the varsity team for the full season.
The NEWMAC is an association of 12 selective academic institutions: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Salve Regina University, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, that are committed to providing high quality competitive athletic opportunities for student-athletes within an educational and respectful environment that embodies the NCAA Division III Philosophy. The conference also partners with four Associate Members: Norwich University (Football), Simmons College (Rowing), SUNY Maritime College (Football), and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Football), while sponsoring 20 sports.
