NEWMAC Academic All-Conference-WPI Baseball-2025

Twenty-Three from Baseball Named to NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team

2025 NEWMAC Baseball Academic All-Conference Team
Westwood, MA --- WPI baseball placed 23 student-athletes on the 2025 Spring NEWMAC Academic All-Conference Team, as announced by the league office.
 
Headlining the group were seniors Andrew Cash (Marlboro, MA), Eric DePiero (Beverly, MA), Gavin George (Salem, NH), and Scott West (Durham, NC), all of whom were honored for the third consecutive year. Graduate students Gage Nagy (Monroe, WA) and Brian Riley (Portland, ME) also earned repeat recognition in their final seasons.
 
Juniors Shane McLaughlin (Brewster, NY), Ethan Smith (Hanson, MA), Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT), Zachary Roethlein (Pomfret Center, CT), and Jack Zawacki (Pittsford, NY) were all named Academic All-Conference for the second time.
 
Eleven student-athletes earned their first career honor. From the sophomore class: Tommy Burns (Morris Plains, NJ), Matt Shea (Andover, MA), Spencer Merrick (Abington, MA), Dominic Monico (Litchfield, NH), James DiGiovanni (Kennebunk, ME), Nicholas Mazzarella (Reading, MA), Axel Foss (Sandwich, MA), Luke Frauton (Medway, MA), Jack Wildgoose (Pittsfield, MA), Trice Cote (Milford, NH), and Damon Chase (Rye, NH) were all first-time honorees. Also earning their first selection was junior Jacob Wiberg (Exeter, NH).
 
To earn Academic All-Conference honors, student-athletes must have maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.35 on a 5.0 scale) following the 2024 fall semester, achieved at least sophomore academic standing, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
 
The NEWMAC is an association of 12 selective academic institutions: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Emerson College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Salve Regina University, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute, that are committed to providing high quality competitive athletic opportunities for student-athletes within an educational and respectful environment that embodies the NCAA Division III Philosophy. The conference also partners with four Associate Members: Norwich University (Football), Simmons College (Rowing), SUNY Maritime College (Football), and U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Football), while sponsoring 20 sports.
