Today's Summer Rewind takes us back to early April on Lake Quinsigamond, where WPI Women's Rowing's varsity eight opened the spring season by knocking off a top-10 opponent en route to NEWMAC Boat of the Week honors. The Engineers edged seventh-ranked Smith in the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup to kick off their campaign with power and precision.
Marlboro, MA --- WPI Women's Rowing's varsity eight boat was selected as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Boat of the Week for the week ending on April 6th.

The Crimson and Gray's varsity eight, ranked ninth in the most recent Pocock CRCA Poll Top 15, opened the spring placing ahead of seventh-ranked Smith in the Jennifer McLaughlin Cup on Saturday morning on Lake Quinsigamond.Â

WPI's boat featured coxswain Kate Lindsay (Ashford, CT), Ilyssa Delizo (New City, NY), Victoria Serrambana (Glastonbury, CT), Megan Tupaj (Amherst, NH), Maggie Kirwan (Wolfeboro, NH), Kathryn Woodland (Boxford, MA), Nicole Miller (Hanover, MA), Madison Gass (Barrington, NH) and Jules Prisco (Pelham, NY) placed second overall behind second-ranked Wesleyan (7:27.93) as they crossed the final buoys at 7:27.90, besting NEWMAC foe Smith (7:28.58) by 1.68 seconds.

This week's honor marks the first of the spring for the Engineers as the most recent was in back-to-back weeks in April of 2024.

WPI returns to Lake Quinsigamond on Saturday, April 12th, in quest for the Barbara Grant Donahue Cup featuring Simmons, Clark, Williams, Conn College with races kicking off in the fourth varsity eight at 8:50am!
