Myrtle Beach, SC --- The WPI baseball team remained unbeaten with an 11-1 victory over Immaculata on Wednesday afternoon at the Polo Grounds as part of the Myrtle Beach Spring Break Tournament. The Engineers improve to 5-0 on the season while the Mighty Macs fall to 1-6.
Camden Willems (The Woodlands, TX) led the WPI offense with two doubles and three RBI, while
Liam Keblin (Newton, MA) went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, two runs scored, and three RBI.
Greyson Baldizar (Seekonk, MA) added two hits and drove in three runs, and
Jonathan Lattimer (Windsor, CT) chipped in two hits and an RBI as the Engineers collected 13 hits.
Ethan Smith (Hanson, MA) picked up the win with two scoreless innings while
Robert Runge (Manasquan, NJ) added two shutout frames.
Sean Murphy (East Taunton, MA) and
Damon Chase (Rye, NH) each worked scoreless innings in the win.
Immaculata was paced by
Josh Goulburn (Medford, NJ), who recorded two hits including an RBI single, while
Logan Barndt (Boyertown, PA) scored the lone run for the Mighty Macs.
Frankie McCartney (Mount Laurel, NJ) took the loss after allowing six runs on eight hits over four innings.
WPI jumped on the board early in the first inning. Willems doubled to left field to score
Zachary Roethlein (Pomfret Center, CT), and Lattimer followed with an RBI single to right center that brought Willems home for a 2-0 lead.
The Engineers broke the game open in the second. After
Chuck Cappello (Southboro, MA) and
Andrew Flamini (Shelton, CT) reached base, Keblin launched a three-run home run down the left-field line to extend the lead to 5-0.
WPI added another run in the third when Baldizar singled to right field to score Lattimer and push the advantage to 6-0.
The Engineers put the game out of reach with a five-run sixth inning. Willems doubled down the right-field line to drive in two runs, a wild pitch brought home Roethlein, and Baldizar capped the rally with a two-run single up the middle.
Immaculata broke up the shutout in the seventh when Goulburn singled up the middle to score

The Engineers continue play at the Myrtle Beach Spring Break Tournament on Thursday when they face Hilbert at noon at Griffith Field. Immaculata returns to action Thursday morning with a 10:00 am contest against Nichols at the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach.
