WORCESTER – WPI wrestling junior Joseph Bernard (Stratham, NH) and senior Charlie Pavis (Bethlehem, PA) have been selected to the 2026 NCAA Division III College Sports Communicators (CSC) Men's At-Large Academic All-District Team as announced by the organization.

Bernard earns the distinction following another standout season both on the mat and in the classroom. The junior biochemistry major owns a 3.86 cumulative grade-point average and recently collected his second consecutive National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America accolade. Bernard also garnered All-New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Honorable Mention recognition after compiling a 23-11 overall record and placing sixth at the NCAA Region 1 Tournament this winter.

A steady presence in the upper weights throughout the season, Bernard competed in all 17 team-scoring matches for the Engineers and helped WPI continue its tradition of academic excellence as the program earned a No. 13 national ranking in the NWCA Division III Scholar Team Top 30 with a 3.679 team GPA.

Pavis joins Bernard on the CSC Men's At-Large Academic All-District Team after putting together a decorated senior campaign of his own. The senior management engineering major boasts a 3.85 cumulative GPA  and earned his first career NWCA Scholar All-America honor in 2026.

A team captain for the Crimson and Gray, Pavis secured All-NEWA Honorable Mention accolades after posting a 16-6 overall record competing in the lower weights for WPI. His season was highlighted by a fourth-place finish at the NCAA regional tournament as he competed in all 17 team-scoring matches during the 2025-26 campaign.

The Engineers wrapped up the season with an 8-9 dual meet record highlighted by Bernard and Pavis' podium finishes at the NCAA regional meet while once again establishing themselves among the nation's top academic wrestling programs.

The CSC Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, student-athletes must maintain at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA while meeting participation requirements within their respective sport.

Academic All-District honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. The 2026 CSC NCAA Division III Men's At-Large Academic All-America Teams are scheduled to be announced on Wednesday, July 8.
