WORCESTER -- Associate Athletic Director Ann McCarron has announced the hiring of Adam Nicolay as WPI's Assistant Director of Facilities Operations & Recreation.
 
Nicolay joins the Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics (PERA) Department after serving as a Graduate Assistant of Intramural Sports and Athletic Operations Assistant at Bryant University. In his new role, he will assist with the day-to-day management of WPI's athletics and recreation facilities, support event operations, oversee recreational programming and help enhance the experience for student-athletes, students and campus visitors.

We look forward to the contributions he will make as we work together to provide outstanding facilities, programs, and experiences for our students, faculty, staff, and campus partners."

While at Bryant, Nicolay gained extensive experience in athletic operations and facility management, overseeing daily logistical, administrative and operational responsibilities for a Division I athletics department. His duties included coordinating event scheduling, managing facility reservations, assisting with game-day operations and serving as a liaison among coaches, student-athletes, staff, vendors and external partners. He also supervised and developed a team of approximately 50 staff members while helping implement scheduling systems, staff training initiatives and operational procedures designed to improve efficiency and service.

Beyond his collegiate athletics experience, Nicolay worked with Vertical Challenge, LLC, where he coordinated large-scale ski and snowboard competitions throughout the Northeast. In that role, he managed event logistics, staffing, sponsor relations and on-site operations while gaining valuable experience in risk management, event execution and external partnerships.
 
Nicolay earned his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Southern New Hampshire University, graduating with President's List honors, and recently completed his Master of Business Administration with a concentration in General Management at Bryant University. He also brings experience as a program evaluator and strategic planner with an emphasis on data-informed decision making, organizational effectiveness and operational excellence.
