Women’s Cross Country Races to Fifth at Cardinal Invitational

Middletown, CT --- Freshman Callan Stabler (Niskayuna, NY) paced the WPI women's cross country team to a fifth-place finish at the Cardinal Invitational, hosted by Wesleyan on Saturday morning.
 
Stabler led the Engineers over the 6K course, crossing the finish line in 23:40.7 to place 40th overall. Junior Catherine Daly (Groton, MA) followed six spots behind, clocking a personal-best 23:52.4 to finish 46th.
 
Sophomore Kayleigh Carnazza (Virginia Beach, VA) was the third WPI runner across the line, placing 51st in 24:07.2, while junior Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) recorded a personal-best time of 24:11.2 to finish 53rd. Freshman Scout Lynass (Shoreline, WA) completed the Engineers' scoring five with a personal-best 24:29.8, good for 60th overall.
 
Graduate student Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) was just behind Lynass in 61st with a time of 24:29.9, followed by senior Grace Connell (Far Hills, NJ) in 62nd at 24:30.0. Freshman Katherine Horgan(Ashburnham, MA) posted a personal-best 25:08.1 to place 71st, while sophomore Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA) rounded out the WPI contingent in 74th with a time of 25:20.5.
 
WPI totaled 144 points to place fifth in the eight-team field, just three points behind fourth-place Keene State. Host Wesleyan captured the team title with 27 points, followed by Amherst (49) and Coast Guard (59).
 
Coast Guard's Kevyn Fish (Allison Park, PA) claimed the individual title, completing the 6K course in 21:40.0.
