Callan Stabler (Niskayuna, NY) led the WPI women's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Ken O'Brien Minuteman Invitational, hosted by UMass on Saturday morning.
Stabler paced the Engineers over the 4K course in her collegiate debut, crossing the finish line in 16:05.9 to place 26th overall. Sophomore
Kayleigh Carnazza (Virginia Beach, VA) was the next WPI runner across the line, following in 28th with a time of 16:24.4.
Junior
Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) placed 32nd in 16:37.1, while graduate student
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) finished 33rd with a time of 16:40.6. Senior
Grace Connell (Far Hills, NJ) completed the Engineers' scoring five, taking 34th in 16:43.7.
Freshman
Scout Lynass (Shoreline, WA) made her collegiate debut with a 35th-place finish in 16:49.6, while sophomore
Sabrina Cady (Lowell, MA) crossed in 17:02.0 to place 36th. Freshman
Katherine Horgan (Ashburnham, MA) rounded out the WPI contingent in her collegiate debut, finishing 37th in 17:28.1.
WPI totaled 85 points to finish third in the three-team field. The Engineers were bested by a pair of Division I squads as UMass claimed the team title with 18 points, while Holy Cross was second with 43.
UMass' Lara Mannes Diaz de Cerio captured the individual title, completing the 4K course in 13:46.8.
WPI returns to action on Saturday, September 19th, traveling to Middletown, CT for the Cardinal Invitational hosted by Wesleyan. The women's race is scheduled for an 11am start.
