John Korzick your remarkable athletic achievements and personal
contributions to WPI are among the most storied in school history.
As a three-sport stat and a winning of seven letters, your name is
etched throughout the school's record books. Your relentless desire
to perform to the best of your ability categorized your memorable
career on Boynton Hill.
You are regarded by many as one of the greatest quarterbacks
ever to play at WPI. A three-year letterman, you are the most
prolific passer in Institute history. No less than seven individual
records find the name "John Korzick" etched next to them, as you
are the all-time school leader in total passing attempts (540),
completions (236) and yards passing (2,823). You also hold
single-season marks for passing attempts (260), completions (120),
yard passing (1,289) and total offense (1,323).
Your domination of the football record boook reveals the
enormous talent you displayed each fall Saturday afternoon during
the late '60s. With an arm that sometimes resembled a rifle, you
guided WPI to some of its most memorable offensive performances.
Your talents were duly noticed inside and outside of New England,
as you attracted local and national attention from both
professional football leagues.
Aside from the gridiron, your athletic abilities were readily
displayed in lacrosse. A star performer and a three-year letterman,
your domination and outstanding skills in lacrosse nearly equalled
your exploits on the football field. Not only a prolific scorer,
your talent also enabled you to excel in every facet of the game.
Your enormous athletic skill, was the earning of a wrestling
letter.
John Korzick, it is with tremendous pride and honor that
tonight we induct you into the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.
