Evan Elkington, you were an athlete with all the right
tools: strength, speed, agility and a pair of soft hands. You used
these tools to help elevate the WPI football program to the top in
Division III in New England and earned yourself a place among the
all-time greats.
Your school records for receiving yards in a game (234) and
season (1,220) still stand. The 98-yard reception you made for a
touchdown in a game against Coast Guard is not only a WPI record,
but remains a New England Division III record to this day. Your
1,986 career receiving yards, ranks you second, all time, and your
98 career receptions ranks you fourth.
Your brilliant career was capped when you received the Gold
Helmet Award as the 1988 season's New England Division II/III
Player of the Year.
Your campus involvement included service as a resident advisor
during your senior year and membership in Phi Gamma Delta.
The same determination you showed on the field has paid
dividends in your career, leading to your current post as senior
sales engineer at Trilogic of Wilmington, Mass.
Evan Elkington, it is with tremendous pride that we honor you
tonight as one of the newest members of the WPI Athletic Hall of
Fame.
