Kevin Sullivan, you were a two-sport standout at WPI. A
four-year starter and letter-winner in basketball (team captain),
you lead the team in scoring as a sophomore and junior, and
graduated as the school's all time leading scorer, with 1,313
points. You are currently fourth all-time leader in the rebound
category, with 726, for the men's program.
You excelled in track, as well, serving as team co-captain
during your junior and senior years. a four-year letter-winner, you
were also the team's No. 1 high jumper, losing only once in four
years of dual meets. You helped WPI to an undefeated season during
your freshman year, and as a sophomore your 6'6'' jump made you the
New England Champion. You placed first at the Easterns as a
sophomore and a junior.
Coach Merl Norcross has this to say: "Kevin was a hard-working
kid who kept everything in perspective. He was a good student and a
good competitor. My most vivid memory of Kevin was a basketball
game in 1967 in which we upset highly favored Assumption College in
their gym to win the Holiday tournament. Those kids just made up
their minds that they were not going to lose. Kevin was that kind
of competitor."
A member of Phi Kappa Theta, you are now the owner of Offshore
Resources LTD in the field of international business.
Kevin Sullivan, we are proud to honor your achievements in two
sports by welcoming you to the WPI Athletic Hall of Fame.
