Sam Casey

Now in this third season back on Boynton Hill, former standout Sam Casey coaches the defensive back and serves as the defensive coordinator after performing the same duties at Fitchburg State the prior two falls.

In his first two seasons on the Engineers staff, Casey coached seven All-NEWMAC performers, including an All-New England selection.  The Winchester native was a standout plater and captain for the Crimson and Gray, earning D3football.com All-East, All-NEWMAC and All-Worcester Area honors following his senior season in 2019 when the Engineers shared the NEWMAC championship for the first time in program history and won its second New England Bowl Series game in three years. 

The defensive back amassed 189 tackles, including 10 for loss, eight interceptions, and 10 pass breakups during his four-year career.

Casey graduated with distinction from WPI in 2020 with a degree in management engineering, a concentration in operations management, and a minor in industrial engineering Sam, whose sister Grace was an All-NEWMAC women’s soccer player for WPI, was a player-coach this summer for the Vysocina Gladiators in the Czech Republic.
