Armando Dunn

Armando Dunn enters his second year on the women’s basketball coaching staff in 2025.

In his first season with the Engineers, he helped guide WPI to the NEWMAC Semifinals after the team won four consecutive games to close the regular season, clinching the seventh seed in the conference tournament. The Engineers then notched a thrilling fifth-straight victory over second-seeded Babson in the semifinal round as WPI concluded its season with a 13-14 overall record and 5-6 mark in NEWMAC play.

Dunn took on the duties as the top assistant for WPI Athletics Hall of Fame Women's Basketball Coach Cherise Galasso for his first season ahead of the 2024-25 campaign and contributed in development of All-NEWMAC Second Team selection Ava Giansiracusa. Additionally, Coach Dunn assisted in the program’s film and scouting efforts of opponents, gameday operations, and player skill development.

Dunn came to WPI from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, where he served as an assistant coach for the Raptors for four seasons before earning a promotion to associate head coach in December of 2023. In addition to his coaching responsibilities at Bard, Dunn held roles as an Assistant Sports Information Director, Residence Life Administrator, and Program/Marketing Coordinator for Student Activities.

Prior to coaching, Dunn was a four-year student-athlete at Bard as a member of the men’s basketball program, playing as a forward for the Raptors. The Queens Village product was named captain for his senior campaign in 2018–19, where he posted his best season for Bard, averaging 12 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. He concluded his collegiate career with 734 points, 500 rebounds, 92 steals, and 75 blocks in 78 appearances and 65 starts during his time in Annandale-on-Hudson.

Off the court, Dunn served as the men’s basketball representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and graduated in May 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
