Box Score

Worcester, MA --- Four different players scored to lead the Clark University women's soccer team to a 4-0 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference victory over Worcester Polytechnic Institute at Granger Field on Tuesday.

Melissa Ambrose (West Boylston, MA) Amanda Ramos (Williston Park, NY), Heather Winn (Salem, MA) and Jess Mirkin (Wellesley, MA) all found the back of the net for Clark.

With the victory, Clark (3-8-1, 1-3-1 NEWMAC) snaps a three-game win drought, while WPI falls to 5-6-1 (1-3-1 NEWMAC).

Clark enjoyed an early lead when Winn found Ambrose in front of the net just 12 minutes in. Ambrose, playing forward for the first time, broke through WPI's defense and netted the ball for her first goal of the season.

The Cougars extended their lead (2-0) as Kari Mruz (Hingham, MA) dished the ball in front of the net to Ramos, who lofted it out of the reach of WPI keeper Nicole DeCampo (Stoneham, Mass.) in the 30th minute.

Clark, who went into the break with a 2-0 advantage, left WPI without a shot on goal in the first period.

When play resumed the Cougars widened their lead as Winn took a chip shot off a feed from Ramos, knocking the ball in off the right post at the 59:19 mark.

Liz Adamcik (Florence, Mass.) headed the ball to Mirkin, who scored the Cougar's fourth and final goal with less than eight minutes left in the game.

The Cougar defense limited WPI to only three shots on goal in the match.

WPI's best chance came from Lynn Worobey (Westerly, RI), who rocketed the ball from 30 yards out, but Clark keeper Thea Link (Irvington, NY) was there to stop the shot.

Clark had a total of 15 corners in the game and out shot the Engineers 19-3. Link recorded three saves for the Cougars before giving way to Nolizwe Nondabula (Hayward, CA) who preserved the shutout. DeCampo notched eleven saves for WPI.

Clark continues conference play as they travel to Wheaton College on Saturday (1 p.m.) while WPI hosts the Massachusetts Institute of Technology the same day (2:30 p.m.).
