Fitchburg State 4, WPI 1

Worcester, MA --- Fitchburg State scored a pair of first half goals off of restarts to spark the visiting Falcons to a 4-1 victory over WPI in non-conference women's soccer action on Saturday morning.  FSC ups its record to 2-1-1 while the Engineers dip to 3-3.

Ashley Dutcher (Littleton, MA) got Fitchburg State into the scoring column in the fifth minute when her corner kick bent around the WPI defense and into the goal.  Then with just 46 seconds remaining before intermission, Katie Campbell (Pepperell, MA) buried a 25-yard direct kick into the upper left hand corner of the net.

FSC increased its lead to 3-0 when Jen Tabor (Webster, MA) notched an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.  WPI got on the board when Jocelyn Moody (Bainbridge Island, WA) scored on a rebound off a Liz Tuite (Hopkinton, MA) rocket in the 79th minute.  Fitchburg State answered right back just over a minute later when Erin Abbott (Warwick, MA) scored off a pass from Pamela Curley (Bridgewater, MA).

Emily Swan (Franklin, MA) and Kyla Batchelder (Stoughton, MA) split time in net for Fitchburg , with Swan collecting two saves in the first half.  Elizabeth Glasson (Worcester, MA) amassed three saves in goal for the Engineers.

Both squads will return to action with non-conference matches on Wednesday at 7pm.  WPI will conclude its string of four straight matches versus MASCAC opponents when they travel to Westfield State while Fitchburg State will entertain Newbury.
