South Hadley, MA --- First year forward
Kristen Garza (Kingston, MA) netted the winner
less than one minute into the first overtime period, propelling the
WPI women's soccer team to a thrilling 3-2 victory over Mount
Holyoke College this afternoon at the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field.

(Bolton , MA). Fontaine set up the play beautifully, lofting a pass
over the WPI defense from the midfield to a streaking Orr, who
broke in alone and beat senior goalkeeper Nicole
DeCampo (Stoneham, MA).
The Engineers responded with the equalizer in the 42nd minute,
when senior Lynn Worobey (Westerly , RI) notched
her first marker of the season. Lyons sophomore neminder
Elaine Harvey (Bolton , MA) stopped the initial
shot by Garza, but Worobey collected the rebound in front and
deposited it into the vacated net.
Orr tallied her second goal of the contest and fifth of the year
in the 74th minute to put Mount Holyoke back in front 2-1. Senior
defender Bethany Paterson (Vermillion, OH) was
credited with the assist on the play, which was nearly identical to
the Lyons first scoring sequence.
Mount Holyoke held on to its slim lead until the final minute of
regulation. With just 58 seconds showing on the clock, Garza found
the back of the net to knot things up at 2-2. Her 11th goal of the
year sent the contest to overtime.
Garza knocked in the winner just 59 seconds into the overtime
period. It was her third match-winner of the fall.

column. DeCampo turned in a terrific effort between the pipes for
the guests, making 11 saves. Harvey came up with six saves in the
Lyons third overtime loss of the season.
