Bennington, VT --- The WPI defense limited Southern
Vermont to 15.6% shooting from the floor in a 50-28 road victory
Sunday afternoon in non-conference women's basketball action.
The Crimson and Gray, who have won four of five contests, even
their record at 5-5 while the Mountaineers fall to 0-9.
Senior co-captain Amber Dangelo (West Kingston,
RI) connected on all of her four shots from the field en route to
equaling her career-high with eight points. The Engineers sported a
balanced offensive attacked with 11 of the 12 players dressed
denting the scoring column. Serena Dubois (Bangor,
ME) and Kaileen Selen (Worcester, MA) both chipped
in with six points while Melissa Kuhn (Stoughton,
MA) added five.
WPI enjoyed a 62-38 advantage on the boards with Ally
Stoyle (Pembroke, MA) leading the way with a career-best
nine on the day. Point guard Natasha Deschene
(Presque Isle, ME) turned in her second straight stellar all around
game, tallying fours points, six rebounds, five assists and three
steals.
Markeisha Mullen (Baltimore, MD) had a huge
afternoon for Southern Vermont , tallying game-highs of 14 points
and 21 rebounds. Julia Fagan (New Britain, CT)
added a double-double for the Engineers, registering 10 points and
10 rebounds.
WPI will open NEWMAC action on Wednesday when they entertain Coast
Guard at 7:30pm. The Bears have posted a conference-best 7-2
non-conference mark. Southern Vermont returns to the hardwood on
Tuesday with a game at undefeated Amherst.
