Worcester, MA --- Senior Mike Cicio (Kennebunk, ME) notched a pair of pins at 149 pounds to help Southern Maine to victories over Western New England (41-9) and WPI (31-15) in a tri-match Wednesday evening hosted by WPI. Western New England took the other contest with a hard-earned 27-24 win against WPI.

133-pounder Steve Valastro (Montgomery, NY) picked up a wins for Southern Maine with a pin and a tech fall while Greg Bergman (Wayland, MA) turned the same trick but in different weight classes (pin at 165 vs. WPI and a tech fall at 174 vs. WNEC). Other repeat winners for the Huskies included Matt Ulrich (Garfield, NJ) at 141 pounds and Mike Andrikut (Slate Hill, NY).

Western New England got a great performance from heavyweight Dan Patsiga (Waterford, CT). He began the night with a 6-2 decision win against Southern Maine and set the tone in the WPI match with a pin at 8:16 during tie-breaker #1. The Golden Bears received key pins in their match versus WPI from Nick Watson (West Grandby, CT) at 149 and Nick Newell (Monroe, CT) at 157.

Carl Anderson (Billerica, MA) and Larry Loomis (Plainfield, CT) both proved to be double-winners for WPI at 125 and 174 pounds respectively. Each notched a pin against Western New England and a decision versus Southern Maine. Other winners on the night for the Crimson and Gray included Anthony Corbo (Port Washington, NY), Will Farrell (Franklin, MA), Tyler Howe (Danbury, CT), Joe Vanni (Hamilton, MA) and Adam Kreitman (Salem, NH).

WPI (1-6) and Southern Maine (4-1-1) will both be competing on Saturday at Williams. Western New England (2-5) returns to the mat on Sunday at the Plymouth State Invitational.
