Worcester, MA --- Evan Demers-Peel
(Norton, MA) scored the only goal of the match with less than 12
minutes remaining to propel WPI to a hard-earned 1-0 victory
against visiting Becker in non-conference men's soccer action on
Monday evening. With the win, the Engineers even their record
at 6-6 while Becker slips to 6-6-1 overall.
WPI broke the scoreless duel in the 79th minute when freshman
Kevin Ducharme's (Bedford, MA) cross was headed by
Demers-Peel into the back of the net. The goal was the
sophomore's third of the season and fifth of his career.
Ducharme was credited with an assist on the play, his third of the
year.
On the night, the Crimson and Gray enjoyed a 16-9 edge in shots,
including nine of the 12 second half shots.
WPI netminder Kirk Dragsback (Sherborn, MA)
recorded six stops on the night en route to posting his third
consecutive shutout. Becker keeper Aaron
Fill (Ladner, BC) was solid as well, registering seven
saves for the Hawks.
Both teams return to the field on Wednesday with non-conference
contests versus MASCAC opponents. WPI ventures to Fitchburg
State for a road match while Becker hosts Worcester State.
