Worcester, MA --- Tiffany Rotatori (Auburn, MA)
notched a goal and assist to help propel Worcester State to a 3-0
victory over host WPI in non-conference women's soccer action on
Tuesday afternoon. With the result, the Lancers improve to
3-1-1 while WPI dips to 4-3.
The Lancers opened the scored in the 21st minute when
Amanda Santos (Milford, MA) knocked home a cross
from Rotatori for her first tally of the season. 11 minutes
later Shannon Feeley (West Springfield, MA) also
scored her first goal of the season when she buried an unassisted
marker from 20 yards out.
Worcester State improved upon its 2-0 halftime advantage when
Rotatori scored unassisted in the 57th minute for her team leading
fourth goal of the season. The Lancers closed out the scoring in
the 73rd minute with an own goal.
Rachel Armenti (West Boylston, MA) was credited
with two saves en route to posting her first career
shutout. Abaigeal Caras (Essex, CT)
and Sabrina Zayas (Canton, MA) shared time in net
for the Engineers with Caras making five stops and Zayas
registering one save.
For the match, the Lancers enjoyed a 13-6 edge in shots while
the Engineers took five of the game's seven corner kicks.
WPI will be off until next Tuesday at 7pm when they host
Westfield State in the second of five straight home contests.
Worcester State opens MASCAC play on Saturday evening with a 6pm
home match at Foley Stadium against Fitchburg State.
