Leicester, MA --- Junior goalkeeper Paul Moan
(Watertown, MA) collected his second straight shutout to help
visiting WPI defeat Becker 2-0 in a Worcester
City Men's Soccer Tournament contest on Friday evening.
The Engineers up their record to 2-0 while Becker in now
0-1.
Dominic DeChiara (Kingston, MA) put the
Engineers on the board with an unassisted goal 17:39 into the
contest. The score stayed the same until the 54th minute when
Evan Demers-Peel (Norton, MA) set up Jason
Hopkins (Mendon, MA) for the header in front, making the
score 2-0. The tally was Hopkins' second on the young season.
Moan made two saves in a winning effort while Aaron
Fill (Ladner BC), his Becker counterpart, was credited
with seven stops.
Earlier in the day, Anna Maria defeated Clark 2-1 in the opening
match of the tournament. The tournament now shifts to Anna
Maria on Sunday with the host AMCATS and WPI meeting in an
unoffical championship match at noon. Clark and Becker will
faceoff at 2:30pm
