Leicester, MA --- Mike Ford
(Whitman, MA) scored the lone goal 11:28 into the game to propel
WPI to a 1-0 road win over Becker in a Worcester City Men's Soccer
Tournament contest on Sunday afternoon. It marks the fourth
straight City Tournament victory for the Engineers as they went 2-0
in both 2009 and 2010.
Ford, who shared Co-Tournament MVP honors with Clark's
Brian Arsenault (South Portland, ME),
capitalized on a defensive mishap by Becker for his first goal of
the season. The senior had tallied two assists in WPI's 6-0
victory Friday against Anna Maria.
WPI goalkeeper Kirk Dragsbaek
(Sherborn, MA)
made one save as the Engineers improved to 2-1 on the season.
It was the eighth career win for Dragsbaek and his fourth
career shutout. The Engineers will play again on Wednesday when
they host Wentworth at 7pm.
Becker goalkeeper Tim McDonald (Holden, MA)
kept the Hawks in the game with ten saves. With the loss Becker
fell to 0-2 on the season. The Hawks will travel to Mass. Maritime
on Wednesday night for a 7pm tilt with the Buccaneers.
