Worcester, MA --- Will Henson's (Barnstable, MA) 9-7 sudden victory win at 184 pounds started a run that saw Springfield win the final three bouts en route to defeating host WPI 23-13 in a New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) match-up on Wednesday evening.
With his team clinging to a 14-13 advantage after seven bouts, Henson notched the victory after WPI's Joe Pizzuto (Liverpool, NY) had rallied from a 6-1 defect to force the extra session. WPI had jumped out to a 9-3 advantage with a forfeit from Brian Amato (Newington, CT) at 125 pounds and a 6-3 victory by Tyler Tilbe (Woodbury, CT) at 141 sandwiched between a Tyler Keane (Glastonbury, CT) 5-2 win for Springfield at 133.
From there the Pride embarked on their first of two three-bout winning streaks of the match. Zach Joseph (Clifton Park, NJ) got it started with a late tech fall at 149 pounds before Luke Balina (Long Branch, NJ) and Devin Biscaha (Jackson, NJ) posted back-back-back win by decision at 157 (12-0) and 165 (6-0) respectively. Justin Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA) stopped the run with 15-3 major decision for WPI at 174.
