Levy, Olexa Shine on Senior Day as Football Sinks Bears

WORCESTER -- Graduate student Zachary Levy (Bellingham, MA) ran for a career-high 219 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries to power WPI over Coast Guard Academy, 38-6, in a NEWMAC tilt on Senior Day at Alumni Stadium Saturday.  

The win helps the Engineers get to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the NEWMAC. The Bears fall to 2-7 overall and 0-5 in the NEWMAC.  

Both of Levy's touchdowns were for 44 yards, and he also scampered for 42 yards late in the fourth quarter to help WPI ice the game.  

Senior quarterback Brendan Olexa ((Hatboro, PA) threw for 165 yards and two touchdowns, the second week in a row he's thrown for two touchdowns, and classmate Brandon Winn (Tewksbury, MA) had 84 all-purpose yards on 16 touches for the Crimson & Gray. Sophomore Douglas Cain (Holden, MA) made both of his catches count – touchdowns for 18 yards and 8 yards, respectively.  

Senior Cam Smith (Abington, MA) led the Boynton Hillers defense with six tackles, and classmates Nica Hesel (Downington, PA) and Maximilian Storch (Quincy, MA) had four tackles apiece, with Hesel adding a sack and Storch a pass breakup.  Luke Grady (Sterling, MA) recovered a fumble in the end zone with Coast Guard driving and Ethan Catania (Amesbury, MA) notched an interception,

Offensively for the Bears, freshman quarterback Joe Armentrout (Oceanside, CA) was 15 for 30 for 141 yards with a touchdown and an interception, junior Jared Colletti (Kintersville, PA) ran for 77 yards on 16 carries, and fellow junior Jacob Wagner (Huntington, PA) had four catches for 66 yards and his first career touchdown.  

Sophomore Noah Greene (Easton, MD) made seven tackles, and freshman Alejandro Christopher (Amsterdam, NY) had four tackles, including a tackle for loss for the Orange and Blue.  

WPI will travel to Cambridge on Saturday to close its season with a noon NEWMAC matchup against MIT. Meanwhile, Coast Guard hosts archrival Merchant Marine at noon on Saturday.
