WORCESTER -- The WPI women's rowing team returned to its home lake Saturday for the first time since May and finished third at the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond.
The varsity eight was in search of its sixth consecutive title at the event but was upended by Division I MIT. Cambridge's Engineers reached the finish line in 15:02.98, followed by Williams (15:21.045) and then WPI (15:24.938). The second varsity eight was 18th (17:00.079) while the third varsity eight turned in a 21st place showing (17:38.438).
The Crimson and Gray also raced in the varsity four, clocking a time of 19:15.965 to finish 10th. Division I Holy Cross won the race in a time of 17:05.205.
The Engineers continue the fall portion of the schedule next Sunday with two boats racing at the historic Head of The Charles Regatta.
