WORCESTER -- WPI's
Ryan Martin (Douglas, MA) and
Julian Quaresima (East Meadow, NY) each made a save in 45 minutes of action and Endicott's
Kyle Rosa (Norton, MA) registered a stop in a complete game effort as the Crimson and Gray and Gulls played to a 0-0 draw in a non-conference men's soccer contest played on H. Carr Field on Sunday evening.
The game marks the fourth tie of the season for WPI and third for the visiting Gulls. The Engineers are now 4-3-4 overall while Endicott sits at 4-5-2 on the season.
The first half was scoreless with Endicott holding a slight 5-4 edge in shots, but WPI awarded all four of the stanza's corner kicks. Gull senior forward
Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, CT) was the only played on either team to log multiple shots in the first half, including a header off the post midway through the 33rd minute.
The Engineers attempted the first seven shots of the second half but Endicott recorded five of the last six shots of the match. Overall, WPI head a narrow 12-10 edge in shots and a 6-5 advantage in corner kicks.
Luke Savoie (Mansfield, MA),
Francesco Valagussa (Mansfield, MA) and
Matthew Biando (Atlanta, GA) all mustered a pair of shots for the hosts while
Conor Rooney (Monroe, CT) joined Frazao with multiple shots for Endicott.
Prior to the matchup, four WPI seniors, including Martin,
Mason Perham (Hampden, MA),
Aaron Vaz (Medford, MA) and
Codey Battista (Northbridge, MA) were honored as part of Senior Day festivities.
WPI closes out a busy stretch of three home matches in four days on Tuesday, tangling with Roger Williams at 7pm. Endicott is off until Saturday when it closes out a three-game road trip with a 3pm CCC match at Wentworth.
