Men's Swimming and Diving Falls in Saturday Home Double-Dual with MIT and Bowdoin

WPI Men's Swimming and Diving
WORCESTER -- The WPI men's swimming and diving teams fell to MIT and Bowdoin  on Saturday afternoon at the Sports and Recreation Center completing their second event in 24 hours. 
 
The Engineers finished the meet with six top-3 finishes and 50 results in the top-10. 
 
Both of the relay teams finished with fourth place finishes at the meet as the 200 Medley Relay squad of Christopher Smith (Northbridge, MA), Owen Krause (Potomac Falls, VA), Lucas Pralle (Wayland, MA) and Dean Doubek (Arnold, MD) combined for a 1:36.69 finish to start the meet. While Matt Crane (Groton, MA), Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA), Aidan Greenfield (Northport, NY), and Sean Tesoro (Reading, MA) closed out the meet with a fourth place, 400 Free Relay finish in 3:12.71. 
 
On the diving side of things, Val Corrente (East Setauket, NY) and Alex Masiero (Richmond, MA) combined for a 2-3 finish in the 1-Meter dive. Corrente came out on top with a 210.15 total while Masiero finished with a score of 201.50. In the 3-Meter dive, Masiero led the way with a second place, 202.80 finish while Corrente added a fourth place, 178.25 total. 
 
In the distance events, Sam Witscher (Portland, OR) paced the Engineers with a fifth place finish in the 1000 Free, touching the wall in 10:23.73 as his teammates added sixth, seventh and eighth place finishes while in the 500 Free Greenfield was the WPI leader taking fifth with a time of 5:03.04 with Engineers finishing sixth, seventh, eighth, and tenth. 
 
Schlessman earned the first top-3 finish for WPI on the day with a third place finish in the 200 Free with a time of 1:46.42 while Greenfield clocked in with a fifth place, 1:48.05 time in the event. 
 
Smith took home a fifth place finish in the 100 Back with a time of 54.36, while Krause earned a third place finish in the 100 Breast in 1:00.79 followed by Fraser Milligan (Middlebury, VT) in fifth place with a time of 1:04.08. 
 
The 200 Fly saw a sixth place, 2:03.87 finish out of Pralle while Doubek clocked in with a  21.79 time in the 50 Free for a fourth place finish. Smith raced to a third place ending in the 200 back in a time of 1:57.39 while Aguirre netted a 2:15.36, fourth place finish in the 200 Breast. Smith kept busy finishing his day out with an eighth place, 200 IM finish clocking in at 1:59.78. 
 
The Engineers are back in action in a couple of weeks when they host the Gompei Invitational, a three-day invite that will take place from December 1-3 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
