Women’s Swimming and Diving Drops Saturday Double Dual Against MIT and Bowdoin

WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving squads fell in their second contest in as many days to MIT and Bowdoin in a tri meet at the Sports and Recreation Center on Saturday afternoon. 
 
The Engineers finished with 31 top-10 finishes at the event. 
 
The 200 Medley Relay team started things off with a sixth place finish for WPI as Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO), Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT), Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA) and Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY) finished with a 1:53.01 time to start the meet. The 400 Free Relay team of Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA), Kaitlyn Grove (Cheshire, CT), Katrina Waite (Falmouth, ME) and Rachel Tsang (Acton, MA) earned a fifth place finish in 3:52.99 to close out the meet. 
 
Caitlyn Swartz (Pepperall, MA) paced the Engineers with a seventh place finish in the 1000 Free in a time of 12:13.52, while in the 500 Free Grove earned a seventh place, 5:45.59 finish to lead the WPI swimmers. Swartz took home eighth in that event with a time of 5:56.59. 
 
Dino took home seventh in the 200 Free with a time of 2:05.07 while Foltz led the way for WPI in the 100 Back with a 1:03.15 finish and Adrianna Yuen (Grafton, MA) took eighth in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:16.83. 
 
In the 50 Free, Wu picked up a top-5 finish touching the wall in fifth place in 25.40 while Foltz earned fifth in the 100 Free with a time of 56.03. 
 
Dino brought home a sixth place finish in the 200 Back with a time of 2:15.96 while Yuen pulled in an eighth place, 2:53.57 finish in the 200 Breast and Wu clocked in fifth place in 1:00.66 in the 100 Fly.  
 
On the diving side of things, Samantha Scampoli (Needham, MA) and Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) finished with sixth and eighth place finishes respectively in the 1-Meter dive. Scampoli finished with a 202.00 total while Yurista pulled in a 186.30 total. In the 3-Meter dive, Yurista took home sixth with a score of 196.75 while Scampoli finished in eighth with a 180.55 total. 
 
The Engineers are back in action in a couple of weeks when they host the Gompei Invitational, a three-day invite that will take place from December 1-3 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
