WORCESTER -- The WPI men's soccer team out-shot visiting Wheaton 14-8, but the teams played to a scoreless draw on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.
The Engineers continue their NEWMAC unbeaten streak, going to 0-0-4 (7-2-4 overall), while the Lyons move to 1-0-2 in conference play (6-3-4 overall). Wheaton is ranked 21st in the most recent United Soccer Coaches while WPI is receiving votes. The two teams sit second and third is the latest USC Region II rankings.
WPI rookie goalkeeper,
Savio Ketnouvong (Paxton, MA), needed just one save to pick up his third shutout of the season, running his record to 2-0-2.
Aaron Vaz (Medford, MA) notched three shots and
Codey Battista (Northbridge, MA) had two, both on goal, to lead the Engineers' offense.

Michael O'Gara (Ardmore, PA) made six saves, moving to 6-2-3 on the season and recording his sixth shutout. The bulk of the Lyons' offense came off the foot of
Joey Everett (Danbury, CT) who accounted for three of the team's shots.
The visitors had a slight edge in the first half, out-shooting WPI, 4-3. Early action saw O'Gara make a save on an attempt from Vaz in the sixth minute, while Ketnouvong kept it scoreless with a save of his own in the ninth minute.
After a pair of 44th-minute WPI attempts were thwarted, Wheaton had perhaps the best opportunity of the game, as
Baden McLaughlin (Yarmouth, ME) sent a shot that appeared to be heading towards the goal. However, the Engineers'
Mason Perham (Hampden, MA) cleared the ball off the line to send the game into the half still scoreless.
WPI dominated possession in the second half and out-shot Wheaton, 9-4, however, both team's defenses stood firm. The Engineers' best chances came in the final minute of play, as a
Mike Montabana (Jamison, PA) attempt was saved by O'Gara and Vaz's final shot went wide, as the final horn sounded at 0-0.
WPI will play a non-conference tilt at Maine Maritime on Wednesday at 4pm, while Wheaton continues NEWMAC action on Saturday at Babson at 2pm.
