Waterford, CT --- The WPI women's cross country team competed at the national-caliber Connecticut College Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park on Saturday. Five Engineers raced in a field of 243 runners in the 6k event.
 
As a team, the Engineers placed 13th out of 25 teams, amassing 381 points. #16 Williams won the event with 30 points, followed by #1 MIT (65 points) and #5 Amherst (77 points). #7 NYU and #17 Middlebury both scored 112 points to complete the top five in the meet, which included nine nationally and 14 regionally ranked teams.
 
Graduate student Rachel Hurley (Peterborough, NH) led the way for WPI, crossing the finish line in 23:31.50 to secure 35th place overall. Senior Elie Bowman (Oakdale, CT) was the second WPI runner to cross, clocking in at 24:04.70 to take 59th place. Sophomore Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) also finished in the top 25% of the field, taking 62nd place with a time of 24:08.30.
 
Also for WPI, junior Catherine Daly (Andover, NH) posted a time of 25:58.90, finishing in 147th place, with first-year runner Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) finishing 168th in 26:31.00.
 
The Engineers are back in action on Saturday, November 2 at the 2024 NEWMAC Championships. Wellesley College is hosting the event at Nehoiden Golf Club beginning at 11:00am.
