Gray, ME --- The WPI women's cross country team competed at the 2024 Bates Invitational at Pineland Farms on Saturday. Five Engineers raced in a field of 76 runners in the 6k event.
As a team, the Engineers placed sixth overall with 173 points. #30 Bates won the event with 38 points, followed by Bowdoin (54) and Colby (72) in the seven-team field that boasted six regionally-ranked squads.
Graduate student
Rachel Hurley (Peterborough, NH) led the way for WPI, crossing the finish line in 24:21.12 to secure 26th place overall, continuing her strong season.
Sophomore
Grace Connell (Far Hills, NJ) followed closely behind, clocking in at 24:52.88 to take 35th place, while senior
Elie Bowman (Oakdale, CT) finished in 39th place with a time of 25:00.53.
Junior
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) posted a time of 27:30.59, finishing in 60th place, with first-year runner
Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) finishing 63rd in 28:20.18.
The Engineers return to action on Saturday, October 12, at noon for the NEICAAA Championships in Contoocook, NH.
