WORCESTER -- The WPI women's rowing team returned to its home lake Saturday for the first time since May and finished fifth at a sunny Quinsigamond Snake Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond.
 
The Engineers had fourth entries in the collegiate eight with the varsity eight posting the host's best finish, placing fifth in the 25-boat field in a time of 16:23.334, the best showing from a Division III boat.  The second varsity eight reached the finish line with a time of 17:13.709 to finish 12th while the third varsity eight was 21st, reaching the finish line in 18:38.157 and the fourth varsity eight made its season debut with a time of 22:55.669.

The first four finishers were Division I crews with MIT sweeping the podium.  The Engineers B boat won the race in a time of 15:33.641, followed by MIT A (15:49.781), MIT C (16:03.071) and Holy Cross A (16:23.334).  Smith boasted the next fastest Division III entry, nearly eight second behind WPI in a time of 16:31.244.

The Engineers continue the fall portion of the schedule on Sunday, October 22nd with two boats racing in the Collegiate Eight at the historic Head of The Charles Regatta.
