Contoocook, NH --- With five runners in the top 100, the WPI women's cross country team finished 13th overall at the 2024 NCAA Division III East Regional Championship on Saturday at the Hopkinton State Fairgrounds.
The Engineers were led by sophomore
Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH), who placed 61st, completing the 6K course in 24:02.99. Senior
Elie Bowman (Oakdale, CT) followed closely behind in 68th with a time of 24:17.05, while junior
Catherine Daly (Andover, NH) finished 81st, crossing the line in 24:37.23.
Sophomore
Grace Connell (Farr Hills, NJ) was next for the Engineers in 83rd place, clocking in at 24:43.31. Graduate student
Rachel Hurley (Peterborough, NH) added a 95th-place finish in 25:06.39 to wrap up the scoring runners for WPI.
Junior
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) and first-year
Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) rounded out the WPI runners. Brown finished in 27:51.92 (174th) and Conway in 28:17.05 (177th) in the field of 224 competitors.
WPI finished with 369 team points in the field of 30. MIT, ranked #1 nationally and regionally, claimed the team title with 56 points, while Tufts (#16 nationally) and Bates rounded out the top three.
The NCAA Regional marks the conclusion of the 2024 season for the Engineers.
