Wellesley, MA --- The WPI women's cross country team raced to a ninth place finish at the 2024 NEWMAC Championships held on the Nehoiden Golf Course on the campus of Wellesley on Saturday morning.
The Engineers tallied 230 total team points in the 12-school event. MIT, the number one team in the nation, grabbed the team title with 16 points, while #30 Cast Guard was second with 65. Smith (95), Mount Holyoke (169), and Wellesley (178) rounded out the top five, while
Kate Sanderson (West Hartford, CT) of MIT took individual honors, finishing in 21:40.2.
Graduate student
Rachel Hurley (Peterborough, NH) was the top WPI finisher, taking 31st place in the 124-runner field. She clocked in at 27:00.2 in the 6k event. Junior
Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) took 42nd overall, finishing in 24:02.5.
Senior
Elie Bowman (Oakdale, CT) was next across the line for the Engineers, taking 54th place in 24:43.2, while junior
Catherine Daly (Andover, NH) took 67th in 25:07.0.
Wrapping up the WPI competitors, first-year
Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) finished in 27:00.2 (101nd) and junior
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) was close behind in 27:26.6 (104th).
