Cambridge, MA --- Highlighted by second place finishes by
Alex Masiero (Richmond, MA) in the 1-Meter Dive and the 200 Medley Relay squad, the WPI men's swimming and diving squads sit in third place after three days of competition at the NEWMAC Championships at the Zesiger Sports and Fitness Center.
Masiero found a spot on the podium for the second night in a row coming away with Second Team All-NEWMAC honors thanks to a second place finish in the 1-Meter Dive with a career best score of 402.75. Masiero was joined by
Val Corrente (East Setauket, NY) who brought home fourth place with a career best score of 372.60.
The swimming portion of the night was kicked off by four career best times in the 400 IM,
Fraser Milligan (Middlebury, VT) brought home sixth place, shaving three seconds off of his career best time for a 4:03.01 finish.
Jake Thomas (Wenham, MA) followed right behind with a seventh place, 4:11.06 career best finish. In the B Final,
Daniel Cory (Reading, MA) netted a career time of 4:11.47 for 13th place followed by
Brian Hall (Westford, MA) with a career time of 4:14.82 in 17th place and
Matthew Segui (Stanton, CA) in 18th place in 4:20.77.
Christopher Smith (Northbridge, MA) brought home a fifth place finish in the 100 Fly with a career best showing in 49.16, the fifth best time by an Engineer in at least the last 16 seasons. In the B Final,
Jack Brazer (Bolton, MA) brought hom 16th with a time of 51.79, followed by
Dean Doubek (Arnold, MD) in 18th with a time of 52.08 and
Lucas Pralle (Wayland, MA) in 19th with a time of 52.64.
Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA) set the pace in the 200 Free for the Engineers bringing home an eighth place, career best finish of 1:42.13.
Matt Crane (Groton, MA) joined him in the A Final, finishing in 10th place with a time of 1:43.45 while
Sean Tesoro (Reading, MA) took second in the B Final to finish in 12th overall with a time of 1:43.53 and
Aidan Greenfield (Northport, NY) clocked in at 1:45.97 in 16th place.
In the 100 Breast,
Austin Aguirre (Santa Maria, CA) and
Owen Krause (Potomac Falls, VA) both took part in the A final with Aguiree bringing home sixth place with a career best time of 56.54, the third fastest time in at least the last 16 years at WPI. Krause followed that up with an eighth place, career best performance of 57.18.
The individual swimming competition wrapped up with a trio of Engineers taking home 13th (3rd in the B Final), 18th and 20th place in the 100 Back.
Andrew Van De Water (Stratham, NH) touched the wall first with his 13th place finish in 53.78 followed by
Aaron Swann (Venice, FL) in 55.25 and
Jacob Antonovich (Fairfax, VT) in 55.89.
The night wrapped up with the 200 Medley Relay where the Engineers foursome of Smith, Krause, Doubek and Brazer each earned Second Team All-NEWMAC honors thanks to their second place, 1:31.16 performance to close out a strong night of competition.

The Engineers will wrap up their time at the NEWMAC Championships on Sunday, Feb. 25. The schedule will feature the 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, Women's 3-Meter Dive, and conclude with the 400 Free Relay.
