Troy, NY --- WPI men's soccer kicked off their New York road trip with a 2-0 victory over RPI with goals from
Anthony Previte (Andover, MA) and
Fabio Bastida-Andreeu (Logrono, Spain) at ECAV Stadium.
With the win, WPI extends its unbeaten match streak to 16 games with a 3-0 start to the 2024 campaign as RPI falls to 1-2.
Worcester's Engineers started out with a Previte goal in the 10th minute of action as
Aaron Vaz (Melford, MA) dished the assist to get Previte on the board for his fourth goal of his career. Just 7:30 later, Bastida-Andreeu recorded the ultimate insurance goal as the Boynton Hillers coasted to the intermission with a 2-0 lead.
The Crimson and Gray continued to strike as they outshot the hosts 8-4 and 12-6 overall in the match and were even at 5-5 in corner kick opportunities.
In between the pipes, Colin Such for RPI falls to 1-2 with the loss as
Julian Quaresima (East Meadow, NY) moves to 3-0 with one save on the afternoon against the hosting Engineers.
WPI concludes their NY skid tomorrow against Skidmore in Saratoga Springs at 2pm as RPI heads hosts another New England foe Keene State in non-conference action at ECAV stadium on Wednesday, September 11, at 3pm.
