Norton, MA and Boston, MA --- The WPI men's indoor track and field team racked up 16 top-five finishes as the Engineers finished second overall on Saturday at the Wheaton Invitational. A split squad competing at BU's John Thomas Terrier Classic saw another set of strong placements for WPI.
As a team in Norton, the Crimson & Gray finished the meet with 83 team points, earning second place behind UMass Dartmouth, who claim the top spot with 125 points. Springfield finished third with 72 points, followed by Wheaton in fourth with 60 points. Bryant took fifth with 52 points, while Brandeis (20) and Bridgewater State (16) rounded out the standings.
Sophomore
Ethan Anderson (North Haven, CT) and sophomore
Daniel Kim (Orange, CT) delivered standout performances for WPI. Anderson claimed victory in the shot put with a personal-best mark of 14.17m (46-06.00) and added a third-place finish in the weight throw at 15.89m (52-01.75). Kim placed second in the 400m, running 51.54, and added a third-place finish in the 60m hurdles in a personal best 8.57
The Engineers also had a first-place finish in the 4x400m relay, as the 'A' team of freshman

Will Larsen (Chelmsford, MA) combined for a winning time of 3:31.59.
Freshman
Calvin Allaband-Gamble (Chicago, IL) had a strong race in the mile, finishing second in 4:36.90. Larsen also contributed a fourth-place finish in the 400m, running 52.65. Freshman
Theo Burrell (East Haddam, CT) followed in fifth place at 52.73.
Senior
Jack Adiletta (Bolton, MA) took third place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28m (40-03.50), while senior
Chris Nguyen (Tewksbury, MA) placed third in the pole vault, clearing 3.70m (12-01.50). Junior
Dylan Serreyn (Windom, MN) took third in the high jump, reaching 1.85m (6-00.75).
Other top five finishes included sophomore
Ajay Bellamy (Stratford, CT), who took fourth in the pole vault (3.55m (11-07.75)) and fifth in the 60m (7.10). Freshman
Ethan Ramirez (Burlington, CT) placed fifth in the long jump (6.22m (20-05.00)), and sophomore
Craig Salois (Hopkinton, MA) secured fifth in the 3000m with a time of 9:20.50. Sophomore
Michael Zuo (Worcester, MA) earned fifth in the shot put (13.52m (44-04.25)).
At BU, sophomore
Gabriel D'Amour (Somers, CT) qualified to the New England Division III Championships in the 400m. He ran to a personal-best performance of 50.78.
Six Engineers went under two minutes in the 800m in Boston, highlighted by junior
Brinson Wyche (Corvallis, MT) who clocked in at 1:55.69 and classmate
Everett Mosher (Chester, VT) who went 1:56.47.
In the 200m at BU, graduate-student
Tristan Andrew (Newtown, CT) grabbed a top-20 performance, going 22.14, while freshman
Ethan Schnyer (Nashua, NH) went 22.54 and sophomore
Koray Boybeyi (Reston, VA) ran a 22.85.
Wrapping up the BU meet, graduate-student
Avinash Bissoondial (Millbury, MA) clocked a time of 8:29.34 while senior
Ryan Fischer (Merrimack, NH) notched a time of 8:34.46 and graduate-student
Jarrett Gulden (Walpole, ME) compiled a time of 9:03.34.
WPI returns to competition next weekend at the two-day Tufts Cupid Invitational in Medford, MA. The meet begins on Friday at 2:30pm and continues Saturday at 10am.
