La Crosse, WI ---
Gavin Fleck (Bend, OR) wrapped up a standout collegiate career and the WPI track and field 2025-26 season with an All-America showing Saturday on the final day of the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex hosted by University of Wisconsin–La Crosse.
Fleck cleared the opening height of 4.75 meters (15-7) on his first attempt before successfully vaulting 4.90 meters (16-0.75) on his second try. He was unable to clear the next height of 5.00 meters (16-4.75) and finished tied for 14th overall, earning second team All-America honors, which are bestowed by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association to competitors placing ninth through 16th nationally.
Fleck began his All-America career with a seventh-place showing at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships before adding second team All-America honors with a ninth-place finish at the 2024 outdoor national championship. The senior returned to the podium this winter with an eighth-place performance at the 2026 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in Birmingham, Alabama.
After a fruitful weekend, WPI track and field now boasts 82 All-America citations, including 64 since current Director of Cross Country and Track and Field
Brian Chabot took over as head coach in 2009 and 14 under third-year head coach
Emily Mauro. Earlier in the meet,
Everett Mosher (Chester, VT) placed 13th in the 1,500 meters and
Alex Cole (Weymouth, MA) finished 16th in the 100 meters to earn second team All-America honors.
On Friday, Mosher was announced as the recipient of the NCAA Elite Scholar-Athlete Award, presented to the student-athlete competing at a championship finals site with the highest cumulative grade-point average. The senior joined
Katherine Pawlak as just the second WPI track and field student-athlete to receive the honor and the sixth student-athlete overall from the Institute to earn the distinction, which was formerly known as the Elite 89 and Elite 90 Award.
The Crimson and Gray are scheduled to return to competition in early December with a distance meet before the full team opens the indoor season in mid-January.
