WORCESTER -- The WPI men's and women's swimming and diving teams faced stiff competition on night one of the 2025 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center.

The men's team sits in sixth place with 45 points after three events. Freshman Thomas Fitzgerald (East Longmeadow, MA) led the way with a fifth-place finish in the 3-meter diving final, scoring 376.65 points. Senior Val Corrente (East Setauket, NY) added valuable points with an eighth-place finish (319.90).

In the pool, the men's 800-free relay "A" team of Aidan Greenfield (Northport, NY), Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA), Sean Tesoro (Reading, MA), and Nikita Zuev (Wallingford, CT) clocked a time of 6:56.43 but was disqualified due to an early takeoff. The "B" relay team of sophomore Brian Hall (Westford, MA), sophomore Jacob Antonovich (Fairfax, VT), senior Jack Duryea (Sag Harbor, NY), and junior Gavin McCullough (Geneva, IL) teamed up to take 15th in 7:06.83.

On the women's side, WPI sits in 10th place with 14 points. The "A" relay squad of senior Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA), freshman Veronica Finucane-Tuccio (Excelsior, MN), freshman Kate Creusere (Las Cruces, NM), and senior Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Hole, WY) posted a competitive time of 7:49.27 in the 800-free relay. Still, another unfortunate disqualification saw the top foursome go without points.

The women's "B" relay team of senior Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO), sophomore Katrina Waite (Falmouth, ME), junior Kaitlyn Grove (Cheshire, CT), and senior Anna Callaghan (Yorktown Heights, NY) added valuable points with a 14th-place finish in 8:04.17.

Competition resumes Friday with a full slate of events, including the 200 free relay, 500 free, 200 IM, 50 free, 400 medley relay, and women's 1-meter diving.
