WPI Men Take Sixth at 2025 NEWMAC Swimming & Diving Championships

WORCESTER -- The WPI men's swimming and diving team closed out the 2025 NEWMAC Swimming and Diving Championships on Sunday at the WPI Sports & Recreation Center, finishing with 596.5 points to place sixth overall.
 
MIT claimed the championship with 1,334 points, while Coast Guard finished second (1,079), followed by Springfield (717.5), Babson (704), Wheaton (601), and Clark (220).
 
Leading the Engineers in individual events, junior Christopher Smith (Northbridge, MA) finished eighth in the 200 Back, touching the wall in a time of 1:52.18. Sophomore Dean Doubek (Arnold, MD) delivered a strong performance in the 100 Free, placing 10th overall with a time of 47.18.
 
In the 1650 Free, sophomore Jacob Antonovich (Fairfax, VT) placed 12th (17:20.16), while senior Eli Budde (Sykesville, MD) added a 14th-place finish (17:27.98).
 
Freshman Tyson Elliott (Portland, OR) was WPI's top finisher in the 200 Breast, taking 11th (2:08.65), with Budde following in 15th (2:11.14) and senior Bora Hurst (West Palm Beach, FL) placing 19th (2:14.83).
 
Sophomore Lucas Pralle (Wayland, MA) placed 17th in the 200 Fly (1:59.30), while junior Nikita Zuev (Wallingford, CT) took 15th (1:57.08). Freshman Angad Ahluwalia (Attleboro, MA) added a 16th-place finish in the 100 Free (46.64).
 
Wrapping up the meet in the 400 Free Relay, the 'A' team of Doubek, sophomore Nolan Schlessman (Sudbury, MA), Smith, and Ahluwalia finished sixth in 3:04.34. WPI's 'B' team, comprised of senior Aidan Greenfield (Northport, NY), freshman Keegan Rowe (Harpswell, ME), junior Gavin McCullough (Geneva, IL), and graduate student Jack Brazer (Peterborough, NH), took 13th with a time of 3:09.08.

Qualified divers will compete at next weekend's NCAA Diving Regional hosted by Springfield on February 28 and March 1. NCAA swimming selections will be announced early next week.
