Hartford, CT --- The WPI women's track and field team wrapped up competition at Saturday's Trinity Invitational, the Engineer's final tune-up before postseason competition.
WPI compiled several personal bests, earning 45 total points to place eighth out of 13 scoring teams.
Rayna Thompson (Brentwood, NH) scored in two events, taking third in the 400m (58.93), the sixth-fastest time in program history, and seventh in the 100m (12.59) after running a personal-best 12.52 in the prelims.
In the 400-meter hurdles,
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) placed third in 1:07.64, and
Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) ran a personal-best 1:08.40 to finish fifth, also hitting the New England DIII qualifying standard.
In the throws,
Catherine Polo (Huntingtown, MD) placed seventh in the discus with a personal-best mark of 32.23m.
Piper O'Connell (North Attleboro, MA) won the javelin throw at 34.78m, meeting the New England DIII standard, while
Katy Gorden (Wayne, NJ) added a fifth-place effort at 31.91m.
Olivia Spielberger (Hingham, MA) was fourth in the triple jump with a personal-best 11.23m, and
Cassie Zimmerman (East Hampton, CT) placed fifth at 10.55m.
Charly Painter (Littleton, MA) added a sixth-place finish in the pole vault, clearing 2.80m.
In the hammer throw,
Sydney Shilts (Flemington, NJ) tossed a personal-best 36.88m to place ninth overall.
WPI's mixed relay team of Brown,
Alden Betterley (Bow, NH),
Lauren Mitcheson (West Bridgewater, MA), and
Everett Mosher (Chester, VT) made program history by winning the 4x400m mixed relay, establishing the school-record time of 3:49.35.
The Engineers are back in action April 25 and 26 at the NEWMAC Championships, hosted by Mount Holyoke in South Hadley, MA.
