Amherst, MA and Williamstown, MA --- The WPI women's track and field team competed at two meets this weekend, participating in the NEICAAA Outdoor Championships hosted by UMass Amherst and the Farley Inter-Regional Extravaganza at Williams.
At UMass, senior
Elie Bowman (Oakdale, CT) led the way with a ninth-place finish in the 10,000m run, clocking 39:00.46. Junior
Sophia Reynolds (Andover, NH) also raced the 10,000 and finished 15th in 40:28.00.
In the 400m hurdles, junior
Bethany Brown (Allentown, PA) placed 13th with a time of 1:06.55, while fellow junior
Bailey Allmon (Woodbine, MD) took 18th in 1:08.32. Sophomore
Maeve Steckley (Rochester, NY) won her heat and placed 19th overall in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:19.95.
Senior
Lauren Mitcheson (West Bridgewater, MA) and freshman
Julia Fronc (Plaistow, NH) represented WPI in the 400 meters, finishing 24th (1:02.27) and 26th (1:03.40), respectively.
At Williams, three Engineers competed in the heptathlon with standout performances. Freshman
Caetlyn Embree (Sherborn, CT) scored a personal-best 3,509 points to place fourth overall, highlighted by a third-place finish in the 800m and a fifth-place finish in the long jump. Junior
Lauren Coutu (Baldwinville, MA) was sixth with 3,323 points, earning second in the javelin and fifth in the shot put. Freshman
Emma Conway (Suffield, CT) took seventh with a personal-best 3,214 points, placing fourth in both the javelin and 800m.
Senior
Olivia Spielberger (Hingham, MA) also earned a seventh-place finish, going 11.06m in the triple jump.
WPI will return to competition at the UMass Amherst Last Chance Meet on Thursday, May 15. NCAA selections will be announced on Friday, May 16, with the NCAA Division III Championships slated for May 22-24 in Geneva, OH.
